Three days after the Model 3 unveiling, Elon Musk went on Twitter to clarify some statements and answer people's questions:
- All Model 3 vehicles during the test drive at the unveiling were AWD.
- Final AWD will be faster than the unveiling version.
- AWD option will cost less than $5,000.
- Air suspension dynamically adjusts ride height.
- Tesla aiming for 0.21 aerodynamic drag coefficient on Model 3.
- Tweaking under way for better front design, edge and contour.
- The wheel rim design at the unveiling will make it to the production.
- Vegan interior will be an option on the Model 3.
- Enough legroom even for 6'5" (195cm) tall passengers.
- Tesla will need to build a factory in Europe to serve long-term regional demand as Fremont reaches max capacity.
- Model 3 will fit in small garages less than 8feet (243cm) wide without problem.
- Superchargers' location will be determined based on Model 3 number of orders' locations.
- Supercharger status (free/busy) coming soon as an OTA software update.
- Only way to get enough rear passenger headroom was to move the rear roof cross-car support beam thus no hatchback like S and X. A bike will still fit no problem.
- The steering wheel design/system is not final.
- Model 3 will easily fit two child seats. Three if you buy slim seats.
- Backseats fold completely down (horizontal).
- Part 2 of Model 3 unveiling will most likely demo some sort of HUD and justify the uniqueness of the center console screen.
- There will be an optional tow hitch.
- Matte black is likely to be introduced.
- Elon hopes to break 500,000 reservations before Part 2 unveiling.
- Extra gifts for those who ordered at the stores. Mini Tesla 3 and more.
